Our Journey So Far

1988
Kirkstall Precision, a renowned name in the field of precision engineering, has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1988 when founder Wynne Ravenscroft started his journey in his garage.

1992
John Thornton joined Wynne Ravenscroft, laying the foundation for growth. With their combined expertise and passion for precision engineering, the company expanded its capabilities and workforce, moving from a garage to a new location in Wyther Lane Industrial Estate in 1994.

1996
Johnson & Johnson transferred the Hasting cup product, marking a major milestone. This involved a significant infrastructure change, including the addition of a 100-ton press, guillotine, and clean line, showcasing the ability to adapt and deliver high-quality solutions for the Medical market.

1998
Designed, developed, and manufactured the Cement gun for a major Medical OEM for the hip resurfacing market, further establishing a reputation as a reliable and innovative player in the Medical engineering field.

2000
Expanded facilities by acquiring an additional unit, doubling its total square footage. This expansion was fuelled by the increasing demand from Medical OEM’s.

2006
The company rebranded, reflecting its evolution and commitment to precision engineering excellence. Four directors took control of the business as founder Wynne Ravenscroft retired.


2010
Completed management buyout from four directors to two. This transition marked a new era for the company, and under their leadership, Kirkstall Precision continued to strengthen its position in the market and expand its capabilities.

2013
Achieved ISO 13485 accreditation, a significant milestone that demonstrated commitment to quality and compliance in the Medical engineering field. Harry and Eddie, who had been directors since the company’s inception, retired and resigned, further paving the way for new leadership and growth opportunities.

2017
Adam Thornton was appointed as the Managing Director, and he led the company through a management buyout, taking the business to new heights. A challenging Medical audit served as a catalyst for change, and Adam Thornton was determined to take the business to the next level.

2018
Iqbal Bahia joined the company as Operations Director, bringing with him 30 years of global corporate experience. Kirkstall increased its capacity by 30% by recruiting and training a night shift, with a workforce totalling 43 employees.

2019
Focused on marketing and branding, creating a new website, and enhancing its presence on social platforms. Iqbal Bahia was appointed as a Director. Adam Thornton, the Managing Director, and Iqbal Bahia formed a solid working relationship, driving positive change in operations and strategy.

2020
The year 2020 was marked by innovation and adaptability. Kirkstall Precision scoped a new ERP system in 2019 and 2020, allowing it to optimise its operations and focus more on strategic business initiatives.

2021
Continued pursuit of operational excellence by implementing Access Factory Master (AFM), a fully integrated ERP system with live shop floor data capture. This technological advancement has enabled streamlined processes and improvement in overall efficiency.

2022
Successful implementation of Phase three ERP system. Kirkstall Precision underwent over 25 days of independent auditing, achieving outstanding results and being recognised as best in class. Furthermore, investing in its people by recruiting four year one apprentices and one graduate design engineer, showcasing commitment to fostering talent and innovation.

2024
Kirkstall Precision joins forces with Kaleidex Group. As the first company to join this dynamic and forward-thinking group, Kirkstall Precision has laid the foundation for a new era of excellence and collaboration in the medical device manufacturing industry.
