2020 was challenging for everyone and every business. But at Kirkstall Precision Engineering, our commitment to constant innovation, investment in the best people and a commitment to quality processes and outputs ensured that we entered 2021 with a great deal to be positive about.
Now 2021 is well underway, we wanted to take stock of what we have achieved so far and look forward to the rest of the year with confidence and some really positive signs.
A new ERP system has revolutionised our way of working.
A huge investment for the company was the introduction of a new ERP system, which has been the largest business change we have ever done. The positive impact of this is clear right across the business and it’s already receiving praise from our customers for improvements in a wide range of areas.
Our systems aren’t the only thing that has had an upgrade though. We’re also making improvements in our working environment and are continuing to invest in training, machines and people to ensure we are seen as really pushing the envelope in the world of precision engineering.
Order book is looking healthy.
Any business can only consider itself a success if it gets customers through the door, and 2021 has seen us continue some strong relationships with customers but also open some doors to new customers too. Despite the challenges of Brexit, we’re proud of the international names of the customers we are in discussions with and how they have been attracted by our commitment to perfection and precision engineering excellence in medical, automotive and other sectors.
Playing to our strength and values.
A big part of making 2021 a success definitely comes from us playing to our strength and values. These include ensuring our customers are delighted, we have efficient and effective processes and of course a motivated and prepared workforce.
As we look forward to the rest of the year, one of the company’s strategic goals is to provide a world class ON TIME IN FULL (OTIF) delivery service for all our customers. To achieve this, we are moving towards having a fully automated and transparent stock system on our ERP. This requires everyone’s commitment and Ingenuity. But that’s just one thing we are working towards in 2021.
What we’re focussed on for the rest of the year.
From focussing on our 5-year plan (now that, hopefully, the pandemic is behind us) to
continuing with our strategy to reinvest in innovation as well as 3D printing, cleaning, finishing technology and automation. The rest of 2021 is looking like it will be a strong year for Kirkstall Precision Engineering.
One thing is for sure, whatever the rest of the year holds for us, we’ll be maintaining our commitment to our core values of:
- Entrepreneurship
- Teamwork
- Honesty and mutual respect
- Experience and competence
- Trust and reliability
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm
